Nestled atop the stunning Blackdown Hills in the picturesque East Devon countryside, Dunkeswell Raceway played host to Round 3 of the Ultimate Karting Championship (UKC) on June 21st and 22nd. The weekend brought a rollercoaster of weather—and some of the most thrilling racing we've seen so far this season.
Saturday served up scorching sunshine and near perfet conditions, setting the stage for blisteringly fast laps and precision driving. Qualifying sessions and early heats were intense, with drivers pushing the limits on a fast, grippy track. My new zoom lens was put through its paces under the bright conditions—and delivered sharp, detailed results all day long.
Sunday, by contrast, brought a dramatic shift. Overcast skies soon gave way to several showers, turning the track into a test of skill, nerve, and adaptability. But the changing weather only added to the spectacle—spray-filled straights, last-gasp overtakes, and fearless wet-weather racing made for gripping viewing. The finals? Pure karting theatre.
Despite the rain, my kit handled the conditions superbly, capturing all the drama, emotion, and wheel-to-wheel action across both days.
Dunkeswell once again delivered an unforgettable weekend of top-tier karting.
